On May 3, 2021, Nathan J. Hudak was sworn in as Judge on the Cleveland Municipal Court bench after being appointed in April by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.

A lifelong Cleveland resident who grew up in Cleveland’s West Park neighborhood, Judge Hudak is the oldest of five children.  The family eventually moved to Parma where he attended and graduated from Holy Name High School.

Judge Hudak earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2000 and a Juris Doctorate and Master of Business Administration degree from Case Western Reserve University in 2006.

In 2007, Judge Hudak began his legal career as an attorney at Cowden & Humphrey Co. LPA specializing in counseling clients on transactional legal matters related to corporate law and governance, entrepreneurial services, finance, securities, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate and development.

Eager to expand his service to the Cleveland community, in 2015 Judge Hudak joined Destination Cleveland as a senior manager on the convention sales team.   In that role, he used his legal and business knowledge to market Cleveland as a premier convention destination and to drive economic impact into the region.

Judge Hudak brings two decades of legal and business experience to the bench along with a strong passion for serving the community.

“Our judges play such a critical role in keeping the public safe, whether it’s someone who exceeds the speed limit on a highway or school zone, unraveling a neighborhood dispute or a family matter—these are all issues that end up being resolved at the municipal court,” says Judge Hudak.

Judge Hudak served as a mentor with College Now Greater Cleveland and was a member of the MidTown Cleveland, Inc. Board of Trustees. He is also a past graduate of the Downtown Cleveland Alliance City Advocates program and the Cleveland Bridge Builders leadership development program.

Judge Hudak currently resides in West Park with his wife and three children.
