In an effort to improve parent and school partnerships, the Cleveland Municipal Court (CMC) is preparing to launch the ROCK Program. ROCK stands for Redirecting Our Curfew Kids, a diversion program for parents and guardians issued citations for minor’s curfew violations.
There are about 3,000 day and night minor curfew citations issue each year in the city. The program will provide an opportunity for families to avoid repeat offenses, which ultimately will reduce crime, alleviate court congestion and improve school attendance.
The ROCK Program is expected to launch with the start of the new school year. A meeting with parents and community leaders is scheduled for Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the City Mission, located at 5310 Carnegie Avenue in Cleveland.
In the video below, Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Emanuella Groves and Attendance Director at the Cleveland Metropolitan School District Lorri Hobson discussed the R.O.C.K. Program with TV5's Leon Bibb (This Week on Kaleidoscope), on August 12, 2012.
