Earley today issued another Administrative Order dramatically curtailing the Court’s operations in response to the growing COVID-19 public health crisis.

(Cleveland) -- The Judges of the Cleveland Municipal Court, General Division under the leadership of Administrative and Presiding Judge Michelle D. Earley today issued another Administrative Order dramatically curtailing the Court’s operations in response to the growing COVID-19 public health crisis.
After consulting with major stakeholders and entities that utilize the Court, a judicial emergency has been declared resulting in the further continuation of cases and a reduction of dockets.
Highlights of the order: Arraignments, pretrials and trials for all non-jail cases have been rescheduled for five weeks. This will be completed by the Clerk’s office with the cases being rescheduled five weeks from the original date and time. The Court will monitor the effectiveness of the reduced dockets and may extend the period if the COVID-19 pandemic remains.
The judges also agreed to have a reduced docket effective immediately until at least Friday, April 17, 2020 with the 3D judge and one additional judge.
Weddings have been postponed or some cases cancelled, Also, civil proceedings have been postponed, including garnishments and all criminal and civil jury trials are being suspended for the months of March, April and May.
The order also references all individuals, including Court judicial officers and personnel entering the Justice Center will be subject to a health screening and will not be allowed in based on the results of the screening and/or testing.
The Administrative Order was filed today by the Clerk of Court, Earle B. Turner.
