(Cleveland, Ohio) -- Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb will be joining the Honorable Lauren C. Moore, along with several judges from the Cleveland Municipal Court on February 14, 2024 to officiate weddings on Valentine’s Day.
The ceremonies will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p. m. in the City Hall Rotunda.
“I am honored to participate in such a joyous occasion for these couples on Valentine’s Day,” said Mayor Bibb. “We look forward to continuing the tradition and hosting this event in the rotunda.”
Going outside the Justice Center for weddings on Valentine’s Day started in 2009 when that special day fell on a Saturday. A number of couples wanted to get married and the building was closed, so Judge Moore reached out to Tower City and the ceremonies were performed there until the pandemic hit.
“Now that things are pretty much back to normal, we decided on City Hall, which has proven to be a majestic setting for weddings. This is going to be so special and all the judges are excited,” said Judge Moore.
The Mayor’s office and court personnel will be involved in the staging of the event, which will include a wedding arch, flowers and balloons. There will also be a drawing for all registered couples to win a $100 dollar gift certificate to Morton’s Steakhouse.
Interested couples must obtain a marriage license from the county and register with the Cleveland Clerk of Court no later than 4:00 p.m. on February 13, 2024.
For the marriage license, couples need to go to the Cuyahoga County Courthouse located on One Lakeside Avenue, Room 146. Phone number: 216 443-8922. There is a $60.00 charge for the license. Couples must then register and pay a $20.00 certificate fee to the Cleveland Clerk of Court, located on the second floor of the Justice Center. Phone number: 216 664-4812.
All fees are cash only.
