The Honorable Suzan Marie Sweeney Joins the Cleveland Municipal Court
Before a crowd composed of judges, family (including her parents), friends and supporters at Cleveland City Council Chambers on Friday, January 8, 2016 Judge Suzan Marie Sweeney became the newest member of the Cleveland Municipal Court bench.
“I am honored and humbled by your presence and proud to be your 150th Cleveland Municipal Court judge and the fourth Sweeney here, so it’s not such a popular name,” she said.
Administrative and Presiding Judge Ronald B. Adrine welcomed the crowd and served as Master of Ceremonies, while the oath of office was given by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Shirley Strickland Saffold.(photo right).
The court can be such an anxiety-producing environment and I will strive to treat others as I would like to be treated. My years as a public defender have been a precious learning experience and I hope to continue to help those who come before me, as well as administer justice equitably,” said Judge Sweeney.
Following several weeks of shadowing other judges dockets, Judge Sweeney will be running her own docket in Courtroom 12-C. Click here to learn more about Judge Suzan Marie Sweeney.
