The Cleveland Municipal Court held three events in the community during July and August of 2023 with the focus on helping people get their driver’s license back: Thursday, July 13th at the East Professional Center; Friday, July 21st at the Glenville Recreation Center and Saturday, July 12th at the Philis Wheatly Association. Over 600 pre-registered for the events and the Court served a combined total of 767 participants.
Representatives from several agencies were on hand to assist those seeking to regain their license including the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Cleveland Municipal Court judges were able to waive court costs and advise on a payment plan if needed.
For those who do not drive or are not able to get their license in a timely manner, the Court provided information on how to obtain a state ID, free of charge. The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles now gives everyone who qualifies a 50% reduction in reinstatement fees and up to 100% for those on public assistance.
