2013 Mock Trial Competition
The annual Mock Trial Competition, sponsored by the Cleveland Municipal Court, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and the Cleveland Bar Association, is going into its 17th year. The program, under the direction of Judge Lauren C. Moore, involves 250-350 Cleveland students and their teachers who end up spending an entire day at the Justice Center presenting both sides of a hypothetical case that is based upon similar cases before the court. These cases involve such issues as stalking, driving under the influence, and children gaining access to firearms. The ultimate aim of the Mock Trial Competition is to improve student listening, speaking and reasoning skills and to better familiarize them with the justice system.
