Love was in the air on Friday June 19, 2020 (Juneteenth) at the Justice Center.
After being together for 20 years, Keila Ruiz Gonzales tied the knot with Nestor Feliciano in Cleveland Municipal Judge Suzan Sweeney’s Courtroom on the 12th floor.
The couple wanted to get married several months ago but couldn’t due to the stay at home order which put an end to all weddings in the building since March. Theirs was the first wedding at the Cleveland Municipal Court in months.
“It was an honor to do something positive in the middle of a pandemic,” said Judge Sweeney.
The Court is encouraging weddings via Zoom, but parties may request a courthouse wedding, which only take place on Fridays and are limited to the partners and two witnesses.
