(Cleveland) The Cleveland Municipal Court continues its rich, proud history of historical firsts by welcoming Justice Yvette McGee Brown as the keynote speaker at the centennial gala on September 15, 2012.  The Cleveland Municipal Court, the second-oldest municipal court in the country, turned 100 years old on January 2, 2012.

Justice McGee Brown is the first African-American woman to serve as a Justice on the Supreme Court of Ohio.  The Cleveland Municipal Court celebrates many firsts including the first woman in the country to be elected to a municipal court bench, the first court to introduce the service of summons by mail, the first to establish a probation department, and the first African American woman judge in the State of Ohio.

The centennial gala will host past and current judges and employees, along with city, county and state officials.  The gala will be held on September 15, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. at the downtown DoubleTree hotel.  Wayne Dawson, Fox 8 news anchor, is the Master of Ceremony.

Tickets are available now.  Please contact the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation for ticket information.  Kris Wisnieski (216) 696-3525.
