  • The Greater Cleveland Drug Court Receives State Certification

    (Cleveland) – The Cleveland Municipal Court’s Drug Court Program has earned final certification from the Ohio Supreme Court’s Commission on Specialized Dockets. In order to receive the certification, the court had to submit an application, undergo a site visit, and provide specific program materials in response to certification standards that went in to effect in January 2014.

  • Court Enhances Technology to Keep the Public Safe: Pandemic Protocol – Ensuring Safety and Responsibility without Risk

    (Cleveland)—The Cleveland Municipal Court has taken extra steps to ensure the safety of those who have cases before the Court in the midst of the global pandemic. The Court website, www.clevelandmunicipalcourt.org, has streamlined the process to plead not guilty and in some cases, get charges amended and resolved. Also with the recently formed Pretrial Services Department, defendants are more readily released from jail and are monitored electronically.

  • Cleveland Municipal Court Restarts Operations Limiting Appearances to the Justice Center

    After curtailing operations due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Cleveland Municipal Court will begin misdemeanor arraignments starting Monday, June 15, 2020. Those scheduled for traffic, and misdemeanor arraignments including operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) are strongly encouraged to send in a Not Guilty waiver to avoid coming down to the Justice Center. That form can be accessed here: https://clevelandmunicipalcourt.org/clerk-of-courts/criminal-traffic-division/plea-not-guilty Follow-up hearings will be conducted via Zoom as part of the effort to reduce in-person traffic at the Justice Center.

  • Cleveland Municipal Court Rescheduling All Matters before the Court except Jail Cases in Response to Coronavirus Threat

    (Cleveland) - In an effort to prevent “community spread” of the coronavirus and for the safety of the people who appear before the General Division of the Court and our employees, the Court is rescheduling all non-jail criminal/traffic hearings (including all arraignments, trials and pretrials) and all civil matters for the next three weeks. (The week of March 16, March 23 and March 30). This directive will reduce the amount of people coming into the Justice Center.
