(Cleveland) – For the fifth consecutive year, the Judges on the Cleveland Municipal Court have chosen the Honorable Michelle D. Earley as Administrative and Presiding Judge.

(Cleveland) -- He always loved to call a fellow jurist, “my favorite judge,” and he was a favorite of so many in the Cleveland community. Sadly on Thursday, October 7, Judge Larry Antonio Jones Sr. unexpectedly passed away in Florida at the age of 68.

(Cleveland) -- After months of planning, The Cleveland Municipal Court staged Yoga in the Park on Monday, September 20th at Edgewater Park. The first of its kind event engaged participants of the Greater Cleveland Drug Court in a two hour session promoting total wellness in mind, body and spirit.

(Cleveland) – The Cleveland Municipal Court’s Drug Court Program has earned final certification from the Ohio Supreme Court’s Commission on Specialized Dockets. In order to receive the certification, the court had to submit an application, undergo a site visit, and provide specific program materials in response to certification standards that went in to effect in January 2014.

(Cleveland)—The Cleveland Municipal Court has taken extra steps to ensure the safety of those who have cases before the Court in the midst of the global pandemic. The Court website, www.clevelandmunicipalcourt.org, has streamlined the process to plead not guilty and in some cases, get charges amended and resolved. Also with the recently formed Pretrial Services Department, defendants are more readily released from jail and are monitored electronically.

Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Marilyn B. Cassidy misses the personal contact on her Human Trafficking Docket, but all that is gone in the so-called “new normal.” “No hugs, no food and no coffee, at least for this graduation,” she said.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, The Cleveland Municipal Court and the City of Cleveland Prosecutor’s Office have been working to limit personal appearances in Cleveland Municipal Court.

After curtailing operations due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Cleveland Municipal Court will begin misdemeanor arraignments starting Monday, June 15, 2020. Those scheduled for traffic, and misdemeanor arraignments including operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) are strongly encouraged to send in a Not Guilty waiver to avoid coming down to the Justice Center. (Cleveland) -- After postponing our re-opening by a week, the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court and Cleveland Municipal Court will begin allowing more in-person hearings beginning Monday, June 8, if such hearings are deemed necessary.
