In an effort to raise awareness about addiction and to support those recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, the Cleveland Municipal Court and the Greater Cleveland Drug Court are presented “Sober Ball 2016” at Crossroads House, located on 460 Northfield Road in Bedford, Ohio Friday, June 17 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The 51st Graduation Ceremony of the Greater Cleveland Drug Court, under the direction of Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Lauren C. Moore, will take place Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. in the Cuyahoga County Jury Assembly Room located on the fourth floor of the Justice Center.

After months of preparation and practice, almost 200 High School students from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District demonstrated their public speaking and legal skills, Friday, May 6th at the 2016 Cleveland Mock Trial Competition, presented by the Cleveland Municipal Court and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation.

Mr. Orman Hall, Manager of the Specialized Dockets Section at the Supreme Court of Ohio, visited the Cleveland Municipal Court on November 4, 2015 to observe the Greater Cleveland Drug Court for the purpose of recertification. Recertification is a process required by the SCOO when a new judge begins presiding over a specialized docket.

Over 50 parents appeared at Jane Addams High School Wednesday, October 28 for arraignment proceedings, as a result of their child being cited for a curfew violation during school hours.

The Cleveland Municipal Court will be conducting arraignment proceedings in the community for parents charged with a curfew law violation, because their child was stopped by police during school hours. 80 parents have been summoned.

Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson took time out of his busy day on September 21 to salute students who participated in the R.O.C.K. (Redirecting Our Curfew Kids) Program. The purpose of the meet and greet which took place at Public Hall was to reiterate the importance of making regular school attendance a priority and hear from students sharing personal barriers affecting their school attendance or poor academic performance.

Friday, May 15th turned out to be a very special and emotional day for nurses at MetroHealth Medical Center. As the result of a recent article by Plain Dealer Columnist Regina Brett, Caring Closets for Rape Victims, Cleveland Municipal Court and Shaker Heights Municipal Court teamed up and donated over a half dozen containers of new clothing and cash to the Level 1 Trauma Unit.
